 al College London and Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate C
 hange (IPCC) Working Group III - the branch of the IPCC that looks at the 
 actions that can be taken to reduce the rate of climate change. In this le
 cture Jim discusses the goals and challenges to hold the increase in globa
 l average temperature to well below 2℃ above pre-industrial levels and p
 ursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5℃. He also expla
 ins the role of the UK Climate Commission in light of the New Zealand Gove
 rnment also seeking to establish an independent Climate Commission. Introd
 ucing Jim is Ralph Sims CRSNZ\, Professor of Sustainable Energy at Massey 
 University.
